The X-Men figure collecting natives are getting restless while they wait for this year’s X-Men Legends Caliban Series of figures to arrive in the spring, but a new Hasbro figure has just hit distribution overseas that may tide collectors over for a little while. She’ll be available via Walgreens as an exclusive in the United States for $19.99 MSRP in just a few months, but if you just can’t wait, the 2019 Marvel Legends Mystique figure is now available online at a markup from overseas sellers!
A new, classic version of Mystique was one of the first X-Men Legends 2019 figures that Hasbro teased at San Diego Comic Con 2019, and she was confirmed at the end of August at the Unboxing Toy Convention in Mexico.
While we hadn’t heard very much officially about the Walgreens Exclusive Mystique figure since last summer, there’s little doubt that we know all of the details regarding the figure and her accessories now–because he’s already been released in Hong Kong and Taiwan!
Unlike the modern, black leather-clad Mystique that was in the third wave of the revived Hasbro Marvel Legends series back in 2012, this figure will capture Rogue and Nightcrawler’s mommy dearest in her iconic, classic look with white dress and skull belt.
This version of Raven Darkholme hasn’t been done in six inch form since Toybiz tackled her in the Sentinel Build-A-Figure series over a decade ago, so there’s plenty of rabid fans eagerly awaiting this updated figure!
As this figure is a Walgreens exclusive that will ship separately from the Caliban Series, only Mystique herself is shown and mentioned on the back of the packaging.
We knew from the official photo released at the Unboxing Toy Convention that Mystique would be coming with a gold pistol without any paint deco, but she’ll also be coming with three additional accessories that are now confirmed: a golden machine gun, an interchangeable Empress Lilandra head (!) and an interchangeable half shape-shifted Rogue/Mystique head (!!).
I think that particular machine gun looks a little silly both unpainted and being wielded by Mystique, but I love both interchangeable heads. The Rogue/Mystique shifting head is loads of fun, and I think customizers will have a nice challenge finding a good body to use with that Lilandra head (perhaps a customized Silver Sable from the Kingpin series?).
Walgreens should have the exclusive Mystique Marvel Legends X-Men Series available in the United States this spring, but she’s available now on ebay from Asian sellers who already have her in-stock. The markup on her is pretty steep (about $45 shipped versus the $20 she’ll retail for at Walgreens), but if you absolutely cannot wait and want to be the first person on your block with Raven’s latest figure, picking it up off of ebay is an option. Personally, I’m willing to wait and save the extra 20-something bucks.
Now that you’ve seen the packaged photos of the final product, are you in or out for this year’s new Mystique action figure, X-Men fans? What do you think of her accessories, and do you have any strong potential ideas for how to properly utilize that all-new Lilandra head?
